COURSE CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES
- Refresher on rock climbing equipment standards
- Tying knots specific to rock climbing
- Belaying techniques (from the top and bottom of the cliff)
- Building safe anchors on bolts and trees
- Rappel sequence
- Gestures and communication

Schedule for the day
Day 1- 7h
- 8h45 : Reception at the LA LIBERTÉ NORD-SUD hut and hand-out of equipment
- Our hut is 200m from the parking; bring all your belongings
- 9h00-9h30: Assesment of participants’ knowledge (knots, belays and rappelling concepts)
- 9h30-16h00: Practice and theory taught in workshops:
- Rock climbing standards and presentation of the equipment used – review of equipment
- Knots workshop (water knot, double fisherman’s, Prusik, etc.)
- The perfect anchor (number of anchor points, equalized, redundancy)
- Physics of potential falls
- Self-belay at cliff edge (fixed rope, prusik, rappel, etc.)
- Setting up an anchor on trees and bolts
- Rappelling set-up and techniques
- 16h00-16h15: Review of the day and conclusion
- 16h15-16h30: Equipment return and end of day
- Less than 20 minutes, up to a 100m of high difference and 500m of hike to reach the differents crags
