You have been indoor climbing for some time or you’ve been dreaming of climbing a rock cliff; this course is for you. No experience necessary.
COURSE CONTENT
- Discover rock climbing and its equipment
- Basic belaying and lowering techniques
- Learn basic movements
- Communication and safety notions while climbing
- Supervised climb
- Single pitch routes of 30 meters or less
- Grade between 5.4 and 5.10
- A little bit of effort and a lot of fun !

Introduction to Rock Climbing doesn’t include:
- Entry fee at the Montagne d’Argent ($14 per person)

Minimum age
- 8 years
- Children 8 years of age and under with parental supervision (free if accompanied by at least one adult that pays)
Pre-requisite
- None
Schedule for the day:
- Arrival at the LA LIBERTÉ NORD-SUD cabin and hand-out of equipment (15 min)
- The refuge is 200 meters from the parking lot; bring all your personal belongings
- Technical instruction and demonstration (30 min)
- Short hike to the cliff (5-10 min)
- Less than 20 minutes, up to 100m of elevation gain and less than 500m of distance
- Supervised climbs and instructor’s coaching (120 min)
- End of rock climb and return to the cabin (5-10 min)

Personal equipment to bring
- Lunches and snacks
- At least 2 L of water
- Polar vest (depending on the season)
- Windbreaker
- Day backpack (30-40 L)
- Tuque and gloves (depending on the season)
- Change of clothes for the return trip
- If you climb with your knees (not efficient at all) think about 3/4 pants
- Lip balm and sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Camera
- Insect repellant
- Swimsuit (depending on the season / swimming opportunity)
OPTIONAL personal equipment to bring (in our opinion, and for your safety, you should always have these items with you on your outdoor adventures):
- Basic first aid kit
- Flashlight (frontal, if possible)
